Course Credits: 4 High School Credits per semester, counts as Directed Elective or Elective for the General Core 40, Core 40 with Academic Honors and Technical Honors Diploma.

Course Description:

This course is only available to Junior and Senior year students.

This course teaches the student about the human body/anatomy and physiology, along with many different situations that you will encounter as a Medical Assistant. It prepares students with the knowledge, skills and attitudes essential for providing basic care in physician’s offices, emergency rooms, immediate care facilities, and laboratories under the direction of licensed health practitioners. The student will have the opportunity to become a member in HOSA (Health Occupation Students of America) or Skills, USA where they will learn about leadership, competitive events and much more. The course also provides students with job seeking and maintenance skills, personal management skills, and completion of the application process for admission into a post-secondary program.
